How do I choose her size?
Measure her chest and use the guide below, with age as a starting point only — children the same age vary a lot. For reference, our model is 120cm with a 57cm chest and wears the M. Check the length in the chart too, so you know where the hem will sit on her.
The pankou has dangling pearls — will they come off?
They're sewn to the knot at the front of the bodice, where they swing as she moves. Like any small hanging detail they're best not tugged, so it's worth a word with her before she wears it, and do the dress up before it goes in the wash.
How does it open?
A zip at the back. The pankou (盘扣) knot and the scalloped front panel are decorative, which is what keeps the front design uninterrupted — and a back zip is far easier on a wriggly child. Zip it slowly at the top so nothing catches.
There's metallic thread in it — will it feel scratchy?
Not against her. The dress is fully lined, so what touches her skin is smooth poly-blend. The lurex is woven into the brocade as part of the landscape pattern, so it reads as depth rather than sparkle.
Can she run and twirl in it?
Yes — the waist is gathered into a softly flared skirt, so there's plenty of movement in it. The bodice is sleeveless and neat, which keeps her arms free. It's a dress built for a child who won't stand still for photos.
How long is it?
It depends on the size — 20" (52cm) at the smallest and 37" (94cm) at the largest, measured from the shoulder down. Our model is 120cm and wears the M, where it falls just above her knee. The chart below gives every size.
How do I keep it looking new?
Zip it up first, then wash cool with similar colours on a gentle cycle, ideally inside a laundry bag so the brocade and the pearl accents don't snag. Hang to dry out of direct sunlight. It needs very little pressing — low heat on the reverse, going around the pankou knot and the scalloped trim rather than over them.
