A short-sleeved samfu top in soft-sheen satin, with a mandarin collar in a textured floral, five pankou (盘扣) knots down the front and contrast trim outlining each one. A floral panel runs down the centre and draws the eye up — traditional enough for the occasion, easy enough that he'll actually wear it.
Material: Soft-sheen satin (80% recycled polyester, 20% nylon) over a soft recycled poly-blend lining — lustrous and lightweight, so it reads as dressed-up without feeling heavy.

How does it fasten?
With the five pankou (盘扣) knots down the centre front, each outlined in contrast trim. They loop closed one by one — there are no hidden buttons or zips. The mandarin collar (立领) sits closed at the neck without being tight.
How does it fit?
Relaxed and straight — a samfu shape, cut to hang rather than follow the body. Our model is 183cm with a 97cm chest and wears the L. The fabric doesn't stretch, so size by his chest and expect room through the body rather than a close fit.
Is satin delicate to wear?
It asks for a little care, the way satin does on any piece — it creases more readily than a cotton shirt and can catch on rough surfaces. Hang it rather than folding it into a bag, and it comes out of the wardrobe ready to wear.
Does he need to tuck it in?
No. The hem is straight-cut and finished to be worn out, which is how a samfu top is meant to sit. Worn loose over trousers it stays tidy through a long meal.
Will he be warm in it?
It's lined, so warmer than a plain shirt, but the sleeves are short and the satin is light — comfortable for air-conditioned restaurants and indoor visiting. For an outdoor lunch in full sun, he'll feel the lining.
What does he wear it with?
Cream, stone or beige trousers, as the model wears it, with loafers or clean white sneakers for something easier. Navy or charcoal also works and dresses it down. Keep the bottoms plain — the floral panel down the front is the detail.
How do I keep it looking new?
Close the pankou knots first, then wash cool with similar colours on a gentle cycle, ideally inside a laundry bag so the satin doesn't snag. Hang to dry out of direct sunlight. It needs very little pressing — low heat on the reverse, going around the knots and trim rather than over them.
