Material: Beaded satin jacquard (80% recycled polyester, 20% nylon) over a soft recycled poly-blend lining — a smooth, lustrous surface that holds the straight samfu shape without stiffness.
With the five pankou (盘扣) knots down the centre front. They loop closed one by one — there are no hidden buttons or zips. The mandarin collar sits closed at the neck without being tight.
How does it fit?
Relaxed and straight — a samfu shape, cut to hang rather than follow the body. Our model is 183cm with a 97cm chest and wears the L. The fabric doesn't stretch, so size by his chest and expect room through the body rather than a close fit.
Is the embroidery delicate?
It asks for a little care, the way any embellished piece does. The floral embroidery and sequin accents sit on the outside, so they can catch on a watch or a bag strap; inside, the lining means nothing rough touches him.
Does he need to tuck it in?
No. The hem is straight-cut and finished to be worn out, which is how a samfu top is meant to sit. Worn loose over trousers it stays tidy through a long meal.
Will he be warm in it?
It's lined, so warmer than a plain shirt, but the sleeves are short and the fabric is light — comfortable for air-conditioned restaurants and indoor visiting. For an outdoor lunch in full sun, he'll feel the lining.
What does he wear it with?
Stone, cream or beige trousers, as the model wears it, with loafers or clean white sneakers for something easier. Navy or charcoal also works and dresses it down. Keep the bottoms plain — the embroidery is the detail.
How do I keep it looking new?
Hand wash cool or dry clean — not the machine, because of the sequin finishing. Close the pankou knots first, never wring it, and dry flat out of direct sunlight. For creases, steam rather than press, or use low heat around the embroidered areas and never let the iron touch the sequins directly.
