Will the sequins scratch her?

Not against her skin — the dress is fully lined, so what she feels is smooth poly-blend, not embroidery. On the outside, the sequins and embroidery are delicate, the way any embellished piece is, so it's one for festive visiting and dinners.

How do I choose her size?

Age is only a starting point — children the same age vary a lot. Measure her chest and use the guide below, and check the dress length against the chart so you know where it will sit on her. These run roomy and A-line, so if she's between sizes, the smaller one usually still fits comfortably.

Do the knot buttons open?

No — the pankou knots across the front are decorative. The dress opens with a zip at the back, which also makes it much easier to get on a wriggly child. Zip it slowly, especially at the top: the embroidery and sequins sit close to the zipper and can catch if you rush.

How long is it?

It depends on the size — 20" (52cm) at the smallest and 37" (94cm) at the largest, measured from the shoulder down. Our model is 120cm and wears the M, where it falls just above her knee. The chart below gives every size.

Can she sit and eat in it comfortably?

Yes. It's A-line with plenty of room through the body, and the lining means nothing scratchy touches her. There's no stretch, though, so leave a little room at the chest rather than sizing her tight — she'll be in it through a long lunch.

Will she be too warm in it?

It's light. The embroidered mesh is airy and the lining is thin, and the cap shoulders leave her arms free, so it's comfortable for indoor visiting and air-conditioned restaurants. Outdoors at midday, she'll want shade like anyone else.

How do I keep it looking new?

Hand wash cool or dry clean — not the machine, because of the sequin and embroidery finishing. Zip it up before washing, never wring it, and dry it flat out of direct sunlight. If it needs smoothing, steam it or press on low heat from the inside out so the heat never touches the sequins.
