How do I choose her size?

Measure her chest and use the guide below, with age as a starting point only — children the same age vary a lot. For reference, our model is 120cm with a 57cm chest and wears the S. Check the length in the chart too, so you know where the hem will sit on her.

There's metallic thread in it — will it feel scratchy?

Not against her. The dress is fully lined, so what touches her skin is smooth poly-blend. The lurex is woven into the outer fabric, where it catches the light rather than sitting on the surface like sequins — the shimmer is subtle, closer to texture than sparkle.

How does it open?

A zip at the back. The pankou (盘扣) knots curving across the bodice are decorative, which is what keeps the front clean, and the zip is far easier on a wriggly child. Zip it slowly at the top so nothing catches.

Can she run and twirl in it?

Yes — that's what the gathered A-line skirt is for. The waist seam sits above a full skirt, so she has room to move, and the flutter sleeves leave her arms free. It's a dress built for a child who won't stand still for photos.

How long is it?

It depends on the size — 20" (52cm) at the smallest and 37" (94cm) at the largest, measured from the shoulder down. Our model is 120cm and wears the S, where it falls above her knee. The chart below gives every size.

What does she wear it with?

It's a whole outfit already. White or cream socks and mary janes, as the model wears them, or clean white sneakers for a long day of visiting. A plain cream cardigan if the restaurant is cold.

How do I keep it looking new?

Zip it up first, then wash cool with similar colours on a gentle cycle, ideally inside a laundry bag so the textured jacquard doesn't snag. Hang to dry out of direct sunlight. It needs very little pressing — low heat on the reverse, going around the pankou knots rather than over them.
